Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cabo Verdean international athlete Michaela Rodrigues became Cabo Verde’s fastest athlete by breaking the new national record, with a time of 11.91 in the 100 meters at the Iberoamerican Championships in Alicante 2022, Spain.
“With the mark of 11.91 established this afternoon, Michaela Rodrigues becomes considered the fastest athlete in Cabo Verde,” said the Cabo Verdean Athletics Federation.
Cabo Verde’s athletics coach, Júlio Nagana, highlighted Michaela Rodrigues’ performance, considering that the sprinter managed to beat Cabo Verde’s record in the 100 meters and became the first female athlete to run the distance in the 11 seconds.
Cabo Verde participated in the Iberoamerican Championships in Alicante 2022 (Spain) with three athletes, and Michaela Rodrigues represented the archipelago in the 100-meter (sixth-place in its series) and 200-metre speeds, while Adiven Renato Neves Lopes in the 400 and 800 meters.
