Blue Economy: Cabo Verde and FAO strengthen country’s capabilities in addressing the effects of climate change

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government and FAO signed a partnership agreement on Monday aiming to “strengthen Cabo Verde’s capabilities in addressing the effects of climate change in key sectors of the blue economy”, budgeted at 500.000 dollars.

The document was initialed by the Secretary of State for Finance, Alcindo Mota, and the FAO representative in Cabo Verde, Ana Touza.

According to the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, this is the first project funded by the World Climate Fund, which brings together large global climate finance funds, Cabo Verde is now beneficiary.

“It is a project to be implemented by FAO, the aim is, first of all, to empower all key players in the various fields of the blue economy, including aquaculture, the fisheries, tourism and energy sectors,” she said.
