
Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean international boxer living in France Bruno Fernandes plays today, in Dakar, Senegal, the semi-finals of the pre-Olympic African qualification tournament in the 71 kilos for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
On Wednesday night, the 13th, Fernandes defeated a competitor from Tunisia and achieved his third victory, in as many fights in this competition organized by the Task Force of the International Olympic Committee and today he will compete with an athlete from Egypt for access to the final.
Bruno Fernandes is now the only Cape Verdean athlete in this event, as in the remaining quarter-final events, involving Cape Verdean boxers, the athletes Nancy Moreira (66kg), Carina Varela (60 kg) fell by the wayside in fights with opponents from Mozambique and Ivory Coast, respectively, after losing on points in their second matches.
Who also fell by the wayside, and in his debut in this competition, was boxer Davilson Morais 92Kg, eliminated in the first round by technical knockout, by a competitor from the Seychelles.

The Cape Verdean team that has been in Dakar since the evening of Wednesday, 6th, is made up of male athletes Davilson Morais (+92 Kg), Israel Nzewi (80 Kg) Bruno Fernandes (71 Kg), Admilson Carvalho (63 .5 Kg) Elisandro Silva (57 Kg), Lenick Fernandes (51 Kg) by two female boxers, Ivanusa “Nancy” Moreira (66 Kg) and Carina Varela (60 Kg).
