Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Vitó Project Association of Fogo and Biflores of Brava Island are united for the conservation of the endemic flora in the Fogo e Brava Region, as a way to obtain “positive” results as they fight for the same cause.
Speaking to press, the geographer and technical coordinator of the endemic plant conservation project in the Fogo e Brava Region in the Vitó Project Association, Adilson Gonçalves, explained that he is at the Island of Brava together with two other technicians and one nursery farmers, to share with the Biflores technicians the experience about seed collection of endemic plants and the whole process to be followed.
According to the same source, the focus is on endemic plants and, depending on the amount of seeds they can collect, they will try to reproduce them in nurseries, highlighting that “most species are in the period of extinction”.
Hence, the goal is to reproduce in the nursery and then put on the ground, especially in the most degraded areas.
