Brava: Rainfall brings new encouragement to farmers and society

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The rain of the last few days in Brava has brought new encouragement to farmers, who have reinforced their sowing, and to livestock farmers, who are closer to the guarantee of pasture to support their animals.

The rain on the 1st of August, according to some farmers, “wet the ground”, which will be beneficial for those who chose to sow when it was still dry and for those who were waiting for a good rain to sow in very wet soil and, thus, try to dribble the guinea fowl pest.

António de Pina is a renowned farmer on Brava who cultivates land in Vila de Nova Sintra and in various locations on the island, but who, this year, in many of the lands, chose to sow dry, but in some that were being infested by the wild hen pest, he is only now going to start this sowing, confident that with the wet and heavy soil the grains will survive this plague.

With the rain that fell, even for a few hours, but “well used”, because, as he stressed, it was a “gentle rain and without wind”, leading the land to take advantage of most of the water.
