Africa-Press – Cape verde. From next Monday, the 22nd, Cabo Verde Airports will no longer provide some support services for the operations of Air Senegal and Transportes Interilhas de Cabo Verde (TICV). At stake are “large” amounts owed by the two airlines, the company that manages the national airports announced today. The services that will no longer be provided are not detailed.
“Cabo Verde Airports is forced to take the aforementioned measures to stop the unsustainable increase in the large amounts owed by the aforementioned airlines, despite tireless, unsuccessful attempts to make them comply with their obligations. Not even the counter-proposals sent by the airlines were respected”, reads a statement to which Expresso das Ilhas had access.
In the same document, Cabo Verde Airports states that it has made a commitment to the State of Cape Verde to promote the diversification and development of the civil aviation industry and the modernization of airports at national level. But he says he cannot call into question its economic and financial sustainability.
“A commitment that we intend to fulfill in full, not compatible with the maintenance of airlines operating, systematically, without timely payment for the services provided, under penalty of putting the company’s economic and financial sustainability at risk”, he states.
Cabo Verde Airports states that it is aware of the negative consequences that may arise from not providing services, and therefore considers it a priority and essential that the debtor airlines, TICV and Air Senegal, respect the agreed plans and pay for the services provided.
