Africa-Press – Cape verde. The pilot project for technical assistance under the South-South Cooperation programme to support the agricultural production system, announced in 2021, was discussed today during a meeting that brought together representatives from Cabo Verde, China and the FAO.

The information was provided by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, to the press, in the city of Praia, moments before meeting with the Chinese ambassador and the representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), to analyze the progress of the project to be implemented in the next four years.

“This is a South-South project that involves the Republic of China, Cabo Verde and the FAO on various aspects and has to do with the agricultural sector and, of course, with the issue of soils and the fight against a pest (known by mil pés) ,” said Gilberto Silva.

The project, according to the minister, includes interventions in the phytosanitary, horticultural and fruit growing fields, as well as interventions to initiate the algae production process.
