Africa-Press – Cape verde. The resident coordinator of the United Nations System in Cabo Verde said Tuesday that the country is in position to be the first African country to eradicate extreme poverty by 2026, aligning priorities with the next PEDS.

The finding was made by Ana Graça, on the afternoon of Tuesday in Praia, at the end of the annual retreat to launch the process for the New United Nations Cooperation Framework with Cabo Verde, for the five-year period 2023-2027, which left a series of recommendations.

“The first recommendations came out of the Government’s directives and guidelines for the next Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development, so fully aligning the United Nations system priorities into what will be the next Strategic Sustainable Development Plan (PEDS),” she said.

Given the importance of the country eradicating extreme poverty by 2026 for the inclusion of the most vulnerable, she argued that it is necessary to implement structuring programmes linked to the issue of the development of human and social capital so that the country can achieve this goal.
