Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cabo Verde received funding of USD 600.000 from UNESCO to support the country in the implementation of the Artist’s Statute, in the survey on the weight of arts and culture in GDP and to empower the artistic class.

In a statement, the Government explains that the support was conceived in the context of the candidacy by the Directorate General of Arts and Creative Industries, supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, with the UNESCO National Commission’s support.

This funding, according to the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, will support the country in the materialization of many projects at the artistic and cultural level that has been prepared for some years, namely the proposed law for the first Artist’s Statute, the contribution of culture in the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), among others.

“The announcement was made as part of the celebration of World Art Day, celebrated on April 15, as part of concrete actions to support artists and cultural professionals around the world through the UNESCO-Aschberg programme,” the statement reads.
