Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean artist Calú Moreira presents his newest album, “Alma,” this Saturday, August 30th. The album will be presented at B.Leza, one of Lisbon’s leading venues for Cape Verdean nightlife.

B.Leza emphasizes in a social media post that Calú’s album launch will take place on a night of reconnection with the archipelago’s tradition, emotion, and musical power.

“Calú Moreira brings us new songs and some that are already part of the repertoire of B.Leza’s attendees. Alma promises to embrace morna, coladeira, batuque, and more, always with emotional weight and sonic authenticity,” he emphasizes.

Born on the island of São Vicente, Calú was the lead singer of the legendary Conjunto Granada before building a solid career in Portugal.

Calú moved to Portugal, where he gradually became a reference for Portuguese music in Lisbon, starting with EnClave and then with the aforementioned B.Leza, where he became a resident singer.

At the same time, tours to Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, and other countries are underway.

The artist has become a regular presence on the B.Leza stages, captivating with his deep timbre and warm musicality.

Solidarity

On the occasion of the release of Calú Moreira’s album, B.Leza, in partnership with the Cape Verdean Association and the Portuguese Red Cross, is launching a campaign to raise funds for Cape Verde, which was deeply affected by Storm Erin, which devastated the island of São Vicente in particular, leaving behind destroyed homes, material losses, and, sadly, lives lost.

“We invite everyone to help us help São Vicente by donating non-perishable goods,” they urge.

September

The month of September at B.Leza is dedicated to new albums. In addition to Calú Moreira’s album, recordings by Binhan from Guinea-Bissau, Jon Luz from Cape Verde, and the musical group La Tremenda Sonora are scheduled.

“From Cape Verde to Guinea-Bissau, from Lisbon to Mexico and the Caribbean, our stage welcomes artists who arrive with fresh work, ready to move, make people dance, and create memories,” he emphasizes.
