Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Sport, Carlos Monteiro, said on Tuesday that the national football team of Cabo Verde “dignified the name of the country in the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2021).

Speaking to Radio de Cabo Verde (RCV), after the defeat to Senegal (2-0) in the quarter-final qualifying game of CAN 2021, the ruler considered that “despite the setbacks” Cabo Verde knew how to fight against a “great national football team”.

“We have been able to put our football on the pitch and dignify the name of the country and Cabo Verdeans can only be proud of our players,” said Carlos Monteiro, who congratulated the footballers and the coaching staff for their “good” representation in the competition.

However, he assured that the Government will continue to support all national teams, “depending on the resources the State put at the disposal of the federations.
