Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verdean women’s handball team debuts this afternoon at the African Cup of Nations, taking place in Senegal, from 9 to 19 November. In their debut they face the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The team debuts at 3 pm in Cape Verde in the match for group A and is focused on a good performance, as national coach Fernando Fernandes said he is convinced that the team is prepared to go as far as possible.

This idea is also shared by athlete Miriam Almeida, in her second visit to CAN, who highlighted that the delegation has expectations to do better than last year.

She even guaranteed that she was prepared to encourage the entire squad to always play for victory and always do their best in the game.

Cape Verde’s top scorer in the previous edition of the CAN, Miriam Almeida assured that the Creole team is already aware of the handball practiced by the DR Congo, and that the squad studied the way of playing the Congolese, as well as the Angolans, the two teams with whom the Cape Verdean combined shares group A.

According to the schedule, Cape Verde faces the DRC today, 10th, and returns to the scene on Monday, 14th, to face the Angolan national team.
