Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Annual Foreign Policy Conference – CAPE-23, which ended this Wednesday in Praia, underlined the need for “a greater and better” integration of Cabo Verde into ECOWAS, seeking to assert the specificities of the country.

According to information given to the press at the end of the conference by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rui Figueiredo Soares, he was aware, among the conclusions and recommendations, that such integration should still be from a perspective of reciprocal sharing of experiences, considering the different reality of the Member States of the Community Economics of West African States (ECOWAS).

“CAPE referred to this aspect of integration in ECOWAS, but also integration in the African Union will certainly be one of the fundamental aspects and I must here announce that we intend to reinforce our presence in the bodies of the African Union, as we have already done in relation to ECOWAS to we can follow what has been done in this matter”, he explained.

Rui Figueiredo Soares also pointed out that better integration into ECOWAS also requires that the issue of maritime transport be resolved, stressing, on the other hand, that air transport “now has a very good frequency” with countries in the ECOWAS region.
