Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of Cape Verde, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, present and sign this Tuesday, 12th, the “Country Program Framework (CPP)” for the period 2023-2027, at the Government Palace, in the city of Praia.
The CPP is FAO’s planning and programming instrument, which translates the Agency’s Strategy into actions aligned with Cape Verde’s priorities.
As such, it contributes directly to the 2nd Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS II), to the 2030 Agenda and to the SDGs at
national level.
It is also integrated into the United Nations Cooperation Framework with the country 2023 – 2027 and aligned with the Priorities of the FAO Strategic Framework for 2022-2031 at a global level, which are the 4 Betters: Better Production, Better Nutrition, Better Environment, Better Life.
As FAO advances, the document was the subject of prior consultations (September 2022 in Praia and October 2022 in S. Vicente) with the purpose of including the vision of the main actors in Cape Verde, through a process of participatory consultation with various institutions and private sector.
The CPP also focuses on 3 axes: governance and human capital, economic transformation and a healthy environment.
The document is initialed by the FAO representative in Cape Verde, Ana Laura Touza, and the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Lima.
