Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde becomes president of the Association of Portuguese-speaking Olympic Committees (ACOLOP). The country was elected in the organization’s elective General Assembly, which took place on the 10th, in São Tomé.

Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Goa, Macau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Portugal, Sri Lanka and Timor-Leste are the 11 countries represented in this organization.

On the occasion, Filomena Fortes, president of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, Filomena Fortes, was very pleased with the election of Cape Verde, referring that she demonstrates the “confidence” in the work that the country has done in the Olympic Movement and within the Association.

Filomena Fortes points out that “the main” challenges of the Association, which she will now preside, are, first, to “work the institution’s strategic plan and resume the product that existed before, that is, the lusophony games”.

With this election, the following governing bodies become:
Presidency: Cape Verde
Vice President: Guinea Bissau
Vice President: S. Tomé and Príncipe
Fiscal Council
President: Equatorial Guinea
Vice President: Angola
Vice President: Mozambique
