Africa-Press – Cape verde. The national football team shares pot 3 with Zambia, South Africa, Guinea-Conakry, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania, according to the draw carried out by the African Football Confederation (CAF). The official draw will be held in Abidjan on October 12, 2023.

Classification for the official final draw is based on the latest FIFA rankings, with the 24 qualified teams distributed into four pots based on classification.

Pot 1 includes the hosts Ivory Coast, along with the highest ranked nations, namely Morocco, which was a semi-finalist in the FIFA World Cup, in Qatar in 2022, the current African champion, Senegal, the 2004 champion, Tunisia , the 2019 champion, Algeria, and the record holder of seven titles, Egypt.

Pot 2 and 4

Pot 2 is made up of the six teams following those from pot 1, with the highest ranking, including the Super Eagles of Nigeria, who last won the trophy in 2013 in South Africa, five-time champions Cameroon, Mali, the semi-finalists 2021, Burkina Faso, Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In pot 3, Cape Verde, which continues to improve, will be grouped with 2012 champion Zambia, 1996 champion South Africa, Guinea-Conakry, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania.

Pot 4 includes the lowest ranked teams in the competition, namely Angola, hosts in 2010, which will be together with Guinea-Bissau, Namibia, Gambia and Tanzania.
