Cape Verde Presents Vision of Sustainable Development at Expo2025 in Japan

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde will be participating in the Osaka World Expo in Japan from Sunday onwards, to present its vision of sustainable development and highlight the results of cooperation with Japan, the government announced.

“Cape Verde will present to the world its vision and alignment with sustainable development, highlighting the strategic use of its natural resources — the sun, the sea and the wind — and the fundamental role of its people as agents of transformation”, explained the government in a statement.

The country will be present until 13 October 2025 at one of the largest exhibitions in the world dedicated to sustainability, innovation and international cooperation, which will bring together around 150 countries.

Under the theme “a future shaped by people, driven by the sea, wind and sun”, Cape Verde will present a stand that will highlight the opportunities it offers, as well as the “great results” of cooperation with Japan.

The stand will be divided into five thematic areas that reflect the pillars of Cape Verdean progress: social inclusion, equal opportunities and the promotion of sustainable investment and tourism; blue economy and the reality of Small Island Developing States; energy partnership and climate resilience; sustainable transformation and renewable energy; and national identity, culture and ambition 2030.

Participation will be enriched with interactive activities, artistic and cultural exhibitions, a virtual expo and workshops on tourism and investment in Cape Verde.

The highlight of the participation will be Cape Verde’s National Day, celebrated on 10 October, with a special programme of cultural, institutional and promotional activities.

Expo Osaka 2025 also marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between Cape Verde and Japan, a solid partnership in areas such as infrastructure, education, renewable energy and institutional capacity building, says the Government.

“With this participation, Cape Verde reinforces its positioning as a model of sustainability, climate innovation, responsible tourism destination, investments and strategic partner”, it highlighted.

The Osaka Expo will be held from April 13 to October 13, 2025, on Yumeshima, an artificial island in the western bay of Osaka, and will feature the participation of 158 countries and seven international organizations, combining technology, design, art and traditional Japanese cuisine.
