Africa-Press – Cape verde. The movement of aircraft in Cape Verde decreased by 6.5% in June, but the number of passengers transported increased by 5.6% in the same month, compared to the same period, according to data from the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA).
The statistical bulletin of the Cape Verdean regulatory agency indicates that last month Cape Verdean airports received 2,158 aircraft, a reduction of 6.5% compared to June 2023.
When the data was purchased with the month of May, the variation was zero.
As for the number of passengers, it was 197,616 in June, 5.6% more than in June 2023, but 3.4% less when compared to May this year.
The movement of cargo in the airport infrastructure of Cape Verde, made by domestic and foreign airlines, in June was 78,278 kilos, more 7.6% more than the same period of the previous year, but 6.8% less than the previous month.
With regard to the postal movement, last month it was 31,694 kilos, with reductions of 2.3% compared to the same period and 16.5% when compared to last May.
In 2023, Cape Verde’s airports improved all indicators of movement compared to the previous year, according to data released in February by the AAC.
Last year, the movement of aircraft grew 12%, totaling 28,421 landings and takeoffs, cargo movement grew by 84% to 861 tons and the handled mail amounted to 387 tons.
The international passenger movement hit a new record in 2023, with more than two million tickets (arrivals and departures).
The archipelago has four international airports (Boa Vista, Praia, Sal and São Vicente) and three airfields (Foo, May and São Nicolau).
