Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde will be present at the Web Summit 2023, which starts today, in Lisbon (Portugal), and runs until the 16th, with a delegation of more than 50 people, including ten technology-based startups.

The delegation is led by the Secretary of State for the Digital Economy, Pedro Lopes, and Cape Verde is the only African country with a stand at the technological event, which will take place at Parque das Nações, in the Portuguese capital.

A Health 360 (Santiago), Hidro Energy (São Vicente), The Best of CV (Santiago), Ocean Vision (Santiago), LESS (São Vicente), Nha Kretxeu (Santiago), NosERP (Santiago), YA (Santiago) , OutSorcing (Santiago) and Come In CV (São Vicente), are the ten Cape Verdean startups selected to participate in the largest technology fair in the world.

Ten more startups from the Cape Verdean diaspora will also be at this fair to exhibit for free.

The last three editions, 2019, 2020 and 2022, benefited more than three dozen innovators who were able to join the Cape Verdean delegation, which in its last edition also included around 50 people.

This is the fourth time that Cape Verde has a stand representing the country at the Web Summit, a technological event that began in 2010, in Ireland, and began to be held in the Parque das Nações area, in Lisbon, in 2016. and will remain in the Portuguese capital until 2028.

The Web Summit 2023, with the theme “Artificial Intelligence-AI”, considered one of the largest innovation, technology and entrepreneurship fairs, expects the participation of 2,600 startups and around 70 thousand participants.

In 2022, Web Summit Lisboa had more than 71 thousand participants, 2,630 startups and companies, 1,120 investors and 1,040 speakers, coming from 160 countries.

In May this year, the first regional event of the Web Summit brand was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which brought together more than 20,000 participants, 500 investors and around 750 startups, and with one of the speakers, the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva

At the moment, in addition to the main event in Lisbon, the Web Summit also promotes Collision in Toronto (Canada), and RISE, in Hong Kong, having already announced its expansion to the Middle East, with the Web Summit Qatar scheduled for the beginning of 2024.
