Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Cape Verdean Athletics Federation, Alfredo Lima, is expecting the performance of Cape Verdean athlete Samuel Freire in the marathon event of the Paris’2024 Olympic Games, which takes place on August 11.
Inforpress, the federative leader said that he has been following the evolution of the athlete, who was recently in Kenya at an altitude stage to be up to the Olympic Games, and that he is expecting “a good performance”, which is at least “beat the national record and his own record”.
“Meda areing at the Olympic Games when athletes from Southern Africa and the whole world are is complicated, it’s very difficult, but we hope it does a good performance, that it has a good race and that it will improve its time, this is what we want,” he explained.
Regarding the internship of Kenya, Alfredo Lima said that this was the result of negotiations with the Kenyan Federation of Athletics, and that he spoke directly with the federal president, General Jacksons, and that local support was facilitated, as well as the direct accompaniment of the coach more closely to Samuel.

Samuel Freire also holds the Cape Verde record in the 5,000 meters, reached at the Meeting de Bruxelles (Belgium), last May, with the mark of 13 minutes, 55 seconds and 36 seconds.
