Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean ceramist Jacira da Conceição, born in Tarrafal, Santiago island, and residing in Portugal, will receive today in this European country the Award of Merit Women Entrepreneurs Europe and Africa in the “Plastic Arts” category.

Promoted by the Women Entrepreneurs Europe and Africa Association (AMEEA), the 6th edition of the gala of the Women Entrepreneurs Europe and Africa Award of Merit ceremony takes place at the Hotel Palácio, in Estoril (Portugal).

Jacira da Conceição is part of the list of 30 women from different areas who will be awarded, such as the occupational doctor Manuela Branco, the writer Gisela Casimiro, the journalist Nilza Rodrigues, the Mozambican deputy Ivone Soares, the cultural activist Mila Ferreira, among others .

Also the doctor Emília Vieira, who is a surgeon at the Hospital de Santa Maria, in Lisbon, and president of Amigas do Peito, which works with many women from Cape Verde and other Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) undergoing cancer treatment in Portugal receives the Award of Merit in the “International Recognition” category.

In September, Jacira da Conceição, together with Cape Verdeans Sara Sarowsky (entrepreneur) and João do Rosário (journalist) and the Cape Verdean Association of Sines and Santiago do Cacém were awarded at the II Migrant Merit Gala.

Jacira da Conceição began her activity as a sculptor in the relationship she established with the potter community in the town of Trás-os-Montes, in Tarrafal, and now living in Portugal with her family, in Montemor-o-Novo, she has her studio from which he receives several invitations for exhibitions.

In 2022, the first lady, Débora Katisa Carvalho, received the Award of Merit Women Entrepreneurs Europe and Africa in the “International Recognition” category, at the gala award ceremony, promoted by the AMEEA Association.

The Women Entrepreneurs Europe and Africa Award of Merit will be awarded in several other categories, such as “Career”, “Resilience and Overcoming” “Fashion”, “Education”, “Sports”, “Health”, “Gastronomy”, “Literature”, “National Recognition”, “Social Communication”, “Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, “Solidarity and Cooperation”, “Sustainability and Human Development”, “Politics”, “Representation”, “Human Capital” and “Cultural Activism”.

According to the association’s management, AMEEA, founded in 2015, is a structure whose mission is to “help as many women as possible believe in and develop their potential and main strengths, believe in their dreams and make them come true” .
