Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verdean Music Society (SCM) awarded, in the 3rd edition of the SCM Award musical gala, the artists, authors, composers, arrangers and producers who stood out the most in 2023. The event was held last Saturday, December 28, at the Santa Cruz Town Hall.

According to a note from SCM, this edition had the highest number of votes through the Authors and Artists Portal, in the categories of Best Traditional and Classical Music and Best Urban and Modern Music. It also awarded “Guardian Users, who are an example in the payment of Copyright in Cape Verde and are Copyright Friendly” and there were also the Career Awards, with two honorees, elected at the SCM General Assembly.

The winning musical work in the Best Traditional and Classical Music Category, in the Traditional Modern category, was “Mosca Estronhe”, performed by Cremilda Medina.

In the category of Best Traditional and Classical Music, Cremilda Medina was the winner of the best performer award and Manuel de Novas took home two trophies, being elected Best Author and Composer. Nando Fernandes also took home two trophies, as Best Arranger and Record Producer.

In the category of Best Urban and Modern Music, the musical work “Bu ka Xinti”, performed by Buguin Martins and Tony Fika, was the winner of the night in this category.

The winners of Best Performers in this category were Buguin and Tony Fica. Buguin took home two more awards, as Best Author and Best Composer, and Eddi Beatz took home two awards, as Best Arranger and Best Record Producer.

In the Guardian User Category, the winners were Hotel Praia Mar, which won the award for Best Permanent Guardian User, and Brugil Eventos, which won the award for Best One-Time Guardian User, as Copyright Friendly users, who carry out their activities with respect for copyright, respecting the law that requires payment of Copyright.

On this evening, Rufino Almeida, better known as Baú, and Ney Fernandes were honored with the Career Award.

The gala also featured entertainment by the winners of this edition of the SCM Award and artists Nildson Lila, Benvas Di Strong, Clovis Davero, Grupo Batucadeiras, Mocinhos di Interior, Leo Pereira, Ineida Moniz, Sidu, Marinu, Marcia Cruz, Lavvy and Ceuzany.
