Cape Verdean Olympic Committee launches Life Champions project

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Life Champions project has a social dimension and was conceived by the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, in partnership with the international organization “Fight for Peace”. It aims to prevent violence and crime through sport and social inclusion.

The Olympic Committee will sign, this Friday, November 11, at 4:00 pm, a memorandum of understanding with the Cape Verdean Combat Sports and Martial Arts Federations and the organization “Fight for Peace” to formalize the project.

This action will bring together the Cape Verdean Federations of Boxing, Judo, Taekwondo and Karate in a single project, with a view to preventing violence and crime, essentially in the city of Praia, reads the statement from the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee.

Reaching young people with risky behaviors

The Life Champions project will have the launch of entries, according to the same source, this November.

The project will provide a network of 25 AM&DC (martial arts and combat sports) trainers with tools so that they can reach out to young people with “risky behaviors and bring them into the world of combat sports”, using their “adrenaline and their strength”, for their physical and mental well-being, in addition to their social inclusion.

The organization “Fight for Peace” was founded in Rio de Janeiro in the 2000s and currently supports more than 195 NGOs in more than 25 countries using this methodology.
