Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean sailors can now work on ships flying the flag of Spain and the United Kingdom with certificates issued by the Maritime Port Institute of Cape Verde. This possibility arises after the Government signed agreements with the Maritime Administration of those two countries.
The Government initialed agreements with the Dirección General de la Marina Mercante de España (Maritime Administration of the Kingdom of Spain) and the Maritime Coast Guard Agency – MCA (Maritime Administration of the United Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), including the “Red Ensign Group”, which is a collaboration between the UK Maritime Registers and the British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies.
It thus increases to 16 the number of agreements established with other Maritime Administrations. They are: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Belgium, Brazil, Cyprus, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Vanuatu, Kingdom of Spain and United Kingdom.
