Africa-Press – Cape verde. The rates that measure the evolution of Cape Verde’s trade with abroad slowed down in the second quarter, in year-on-year terms, especially in imports, the National Statistics Institute (INE) announced today.
Cape Verde’s trade with foreign countries slows down
According to Lusa, the slowdown appears as a sign of stabilization, following quarters post-covid-19 pandemic in which variations were greater than 100%, signaling a resumption of activity.
In the second quarter of 2023, Cape Verdean exports fell by 4.2% year-on-year, mainly due to the 31.5% drop in the export of goods, while the export of services grew by 7.6%.
With regard to imports, there was a decrease of 17.1%, with the import of goods recording a decrease of 20.8% and the import of services recording a year-on-year increase of 1.6%.
