Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Police (PN) started today with a mega-operation in the neighborhoods of Bela Vista, Achada de Santo António and Fundo Cobom, having already made some arrests and seizure of firearms.

According to Inforpress, which cites information provided by the commander of the operation, Roberto Lima, the National Police intends to carry out, during today, searches of residences in the localities of Bela Vista and Achada Santo António, at the behest of the Public Ministry (MP).

“In addition to these, we also intend to carry out three more house searches with a warrant from a shift judge at the Praia Court, who monitors the operation”, informed Roberto Lima.

Decreased feelings of insecurity and crime

As he explained, the plan of the Regional Command of Santiago Sul and Maio (CRSSM) has as main objectives the reduction of the feeling of insecurity and road accidents, as well as the prevention and reduction of crime, maintenance of security and public order, guarantee of the operation of public and private institutions, as well as the security of the physical integrity of citizens and their assets.

Decrease delinquency

It also intends, among other things, to reduce the rate of crime and delinquency, especially those that, due to their social and psychological impact, accuse a greater feeling of insecurity among the people, namely crimes against people and against property.

In order to have these conditions, as the commander said, the CRSSM, through the National Directorate’s workshop and car park, recovered the “maximum” of vehicles that were immobilized.

routine operation

Since last week, the PN has received a daily reinforcement of 60 trainees from the 18th Training Course for PN Agents, who will help with visibility policing and traffic inspection from 07:00 to 19:00.

This mega-operation is part of the Christmas/New Year Plan of the Regional Command of Santiago Sul and Maio (CRSSM) of the National Police, which started last week with around 500 troops.
