Africa-Press – Cape verde. The current president of Santa Cruz City Council, Carlos Siva, told Inforpress today that he has not yet decided whether or not he will re-candidate for the position for another term in the next municipal elections in 2024.

“I haven’t decided yet whether to reapply or not. I will only decide at the end of the year ,” the 51-year-old politician told Inforpress, reiterating that his re-candidacy depends on the balance of the 2020-2024 mandate and, consequently, on the invitation from his party, the PAICV.

However, the mayor, who took over management of the Santa Cruz City Council as substitute president in 2014, and who won the 2016 and 2020 municipal elections, admitted that he is considering re-running for president of that municipality in the interior of Santiago in the 2024 local elections.

If he is a candidate, Carlos Silva will enter the race to seek a third consecutive term in this “eminently agricultural ” municipality, adds the same source.

In Santiago Norte, with the exception of the mayor of Santa Cruz, the other five mayors – Jassira Monteiro, Santa Catarina, Ângelo Vaz, São Salvador do Mundo, Carlos Vasconcelos, São Lourenço dos Órgãos, and Herménio Fernandes, all from the Movement for Democracy ( MpD, in power), and José dos Reis, Tarrafal, from PAICV – have already shown their willingness to continue leading the destinies of their respective municipalities.
