Africa-Press – Cape verde. Journalists Nélio dos Santos from RTC and Daniel Almeida from A NAÇÃO were re-elected effective members of the Journalist’s Professional Portfolio Commission (CCPJ). Judge Angela Rodrigues, president of the CCPJ, Gisela Coelho, of AJOC and António Monteiro were also reappointed.

Cape Verdean journalists and equivalents, with a valid professional card, were called to the polls this Saturday, 19, to choose their representatives on the Journalist’s Professional Card Commission, according to article 9 of the Journalist’s Professional Card Regulation.

According to a press release, Nélio dos Santos, candidate for full member of the CCPJ, representing journalists in the audiovisual sector, was elected with 57 votes in favor and 1 against and Daniel Almeida, candidate for full member of the CCPJ on behalf of journalists in the written press, was elected with 56 votes in favor and 3 against.

In the audiovisual sector, the substitute will be José António dos Reis and in the written press, Alexandre Semedo. For the election of the representative of journalists in the audiovisual sector, 2 blank votes and 1 null were registered, while in the written press there were 2 blank votes, and the participation in relation to the last elections held in 2018 was slightly higher.

The Professional Card commission is chaired by a Magistrate and Judge Ângela Rodrigues was reappointed for another term. On behalf of the Union Association of Journalists of Cape Verde (AJOC), the vice-president, Gisela Coelho, was also reappointed, as well as the representative of the written press and electronic journalism, in the person of António Monteiro.

It still remains to choose the members representing journalists in the radio and television sector for the renewal of the Journalist’s Professional Card Commission.
