Celso Ribeiro spoke at a press conference about what he considers “mismanagement” at the Municipal Council of Tarrafal de Santiago and to ask for accountability within the scope of the commitment established with the residents of Tarrafal by PAICV.
The same source stated that in the last three years, the municipality of Tarrafal has been governed with many “illegalities, intransparency, non-compliance, persecution and inequalities”, by the mayor José dos Reis and his “comrades” from his party.
“The state of our municipality is quite worrying and the data points to a real setback in all areas, as there is no structural gain in the municipality, resulting from the work done by President José dos Reis”, he added.
In this sense, the politician cited some examples of non-compliance on the part of the “change is necessary” team, such as the case of the “seven grass fields”, which to date has not materialized, considering that this leads to the “total degradation” of the food sector. sport in the municipality, which, according to sports clubs and associations, “nothing has been done”.
He also mentioned the project for the asphalting of the city’s main arteries and the construction of pedestrian streets, also stating that nothing has yet been done in this regard, accusing the mayor who is focused more on “promoting deals”, benefiting some and harming many. .

According to him, the objective of building 200 bathrooms per year was postponed to make way for festivals and the president’s numerous trips abroad, which, in his opinion, have contributed nothing to the municipality.
“The purpose of creating the municipal tourism school has certainly been forgotten, as well as the project for the tourist urbanization of Achada Tenda and Ribeira das Pratas and the construction of several shelved housing, are also some of the various projects included in the PAICV electoral platform that were ignored,” he said.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the current chamber has recently been under a scandal, which is known to all Tarrafalenses, which has to do with “the embezzlement of money, theft of equipment and various materials”, considering that the mayor turned a “turn a blind eye” ” to this case and was more concerned about being on social media trying to “threaten and intimidate” his political opponents, “via a fake profile”.
