Africa-Press – Cape verde. The mayor of Praia said on Tuesday that the municipality will increase the level of demand for licences for nightclubs and noise pollution control due to non-compliance with the timetable by owners.
Francisco Carvalho made these statements to Inforpress on the sidelines of the Fourth Extraordinary Session of the Praia Municipal Assembly taking place today and Wednesday in Praia, when asked about the city council’s actions regarding the licensing and inspection process for commercial premises, with a view to ensuring the prevention and control of noise pollution in the municipality of Praia.
He guaranteed that the city council has been monitoring compliance with the closing times for night-time entertainment, which has affected residents in different neighbourhoods and put public health at risk.
“The City Council of Praia issues licenses, but it always demands compliance with schedules, the City Council supervises, it is always on top of events. What happens is that, sometimes, we find owners who prevaricate, it is a behavior of these owners who prevaricate”, he reiterated.
