Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Health said this Tuesday, in Sal island, that the watchword at the moment is solidarity with the survivors of the vessel found adrift about 150 miles northeast of the island of Sal.
Filomena Gonçalves, who arrived in Sal this morning together with the president of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ineida Sena, and the National Director of Health, Ângela Gomes, made these statements at the Palmeira pier, where, at 11.40am, the ship ZILLARRI arrived with the 38 survivors and seven bodies found on the high seas in a prioga.
“Right now the watchword is solidarity. Here we are witnessing these survivors being discharged, and with a multidisciplinary team that we are so proud of, with all the conditions created to welcome them,” she said.
According to the same source, migration issues are global concerns that require international cooperation, a lot of discussion and global strategy, which is why, she stressed, it is necessary for all nations to sit together to analyse what can be done so that lives are preserved. However, at the moment, she emphasised, the government has all the support it needs so that the survivors can be treated “in the best way”.”.
