Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic (PR), José Maria Neves, is in Luanda (the Capital City of Angola), where he participates, this Sunday, 28, in the Funeral Service of the late President of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos.
José Maria Neves arrived, in the early hours of this Saturday, 27th, in Luanda – according to a Note from the Presidential Palace of the Plateau -, for a short visit lasting just over 24 hours, in order to participate, together with other Heads of State, at the Funeral Ceremonies of the former Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos, whose mortal remains will be given to earth this Sunday.
José Eduardo dos Santos, PR Neves has said it on several occasions, was “a great friend of Cape Verde” and was present in “decisive moments” of our Archipelago.
Neves also praises the leadership of the deceased “at the head of the destinies of this Friendly Country and who contributed immensely, not only to Peace and Stabilization in Angola, but also in Southern and Central Africa”.
In view of this, Dosd Santos “deserves all the respect and homage of Cape Verdeans”.
A Southern African country, Angola has hosted, since before the Independence of the two Lusophone Countries, a significant Cape Verdean Community.
