COVID-19/Vaccination: National Director of Health calls on people to take booster dose

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Director of Health, Jorge Noel Barreto, called on people to take their booster dose, pointing out that there is “a certain relaxation” from those who have already taken the first two doses.

Speaking about vaccination at the usual Monday press conference, to make the assessment of the pandemic situation in the archipelago, this responsible began by saying that vaccination is taking place “at a good pace”, although the authorities would like the pace to be better, especially in some regions of the country.

“The booster dose is that people need to look for more, because we see that there is some relaxation here from people who are already fully vaccinated, who still can not understand the importance of the booster dose, which is precisely to strengthen immunity, avoid more serious consequences,” he said.

At the moment, Jorge Noel Barreto reported, there are a total of 33.914 adult people who have already taken the booster dose, which represents 9.2%, “still far below” than expected. “There are enough vaccines, people can search vaccination stations without fear, they can take their booster doses and so we will also comply with our duty as citizens and people living in Cabo Verde, being a very important contribution that we make to achieve the much desired recovery,” he said.
