Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Consumer Price Index inflation rate recorded a monthly variation rate of 0.9% in August 2023, increasing by 0.7 percentage points (p.p.) compared to what was recorded in the previous month.
According to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the accumulated rate of change in the CPI was 1.4 per cent, 4.6 p.p. less than in the same month of the previous year.
The report indicates that the year-on-year rate of change in the total CPI in August 2023 was 2.9 per cent, up 0.3 p.p. on the previous month, pointing out that in the period under review, the CPI recorded an average change over the last twelve months of 5.8 per cent, 0.5 p.p. down on the previous month.
In a similar, it added, the Indicator of Underlying Inflation (total index excluding energy and unprocessed food) showed a year-on-year change of 3.4 per cent, 0.4 p.p. less than in July 2023.
