Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Cabo Verde Telecom (CVTelecom), João Domingos Correia, challenged Cabo Verdeans to exploit the potential the EllaLink project represents for the promotion of the social and economic development of the country.
The official, who was speaking at the ceremony that marked the start-up of this fiber optic submarine cable, which connects Cabo Verde to Europe and Latin America, said that the EllaLink project appears as a bet of Cabo Verde Telecom, aiming to eliminate the “obstacles” that could prevent the implementation of projects linked to the digital economy.
“Although it is a project undertaken by CVtelecom, it should be seen as a Cabo Verde project to serve the national economy and all Cabo Verdeans, which is why we challenge everyone to exploit the potential the project represents to promote the social and economic development of the country,” he said.
João Domingos Correia stressed that by embracing the EllaLink project, the company made all previous assessments, not only in terms of securitization of the country’s international connectivity, but also in terms of the potential that the cable represents to boost the digital economy.
