Africa-Press – Cape verde. The deputy of the Nation, elected by the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV, opposition), in the constituency of the island of Maio, Edson Alves, died this Friday, 3rd, in Portugal, due to sudden death.
The information was confirmed to Inforpress by the president of the Maense Association in Portugal (AMP), Lito Spencer, saying that the deputy, who died in the Algarve, arrived in Portugal to, among other points on his agenda, participate in the activities commemorating the association’s anniversary.
In addition to participating in the 12th Meeting of Maio Students in Portugal, which takes place this May, the Nation’s deputy had scheduled meetings with the community of the island of Maio residing in Portugal and with some authorities from this European country.
As I said, Edson Alves showed no signs of being ill, but early this evening, Friday, he ended up having an “attack” and was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive.
The deputy had been announced last week as the PAICV candidate for president of the Maio City Council, in the municipal elections taking place this year.
