Africa-Press – Cape verde. Deputy Prime Minister Olavo Correia on Tuesday considered the National Institute of Statistics (INE) an “important asset” for Cabo Verde’s external credibility and has shared its international best practices.

The Minister made these statements during the swearing-in ceremony of new members of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), held this Tuesday in the City of Praia.

According to Olavo Correia, the INE is today an “independent and credible” authority, which develops methodologically advanced statistical processes, which has been progressively using technological innovation, data science, confidentiality of citizens and entities, but also returns to Cabo Verdean society the value for better knowledge, research.

“The INE we have today is an INE that works in line with the Code of Conduct very tight and in line with international best practices, professionalism, technical independence confidentiality, valorization of human resources”, he said, recognizing the contribution the outgoing Governing Board of the institution has made in strengthening official statistics and international recognition of the INE.

In his speech, Olavo Correia challenged the new INE Governing Board to work to produce labour market statistics every six months and promised that the Government would mobilize resources to achieve this objective.
