Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cardinal Dom Arlindo Furtado highlighted this Sunday, in Cidade da Velha, during the opening of the Jubilee Decade, the importance of the process of constitution of the Cape Verdean people, from the Caldeirão da Ribeira Grande, with a sense of dignity .
During the opening ceremony of the Jubilee Decade of the Celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Diocese of Santiago de Cabo Verde, held in the center of Cidade Velha, considered the cradle of Cape Verdeans, Archbishop Arlindo Furtado. He highlighted the importance of Cape Verdeans remembering the past with gratitude; in order to recognize all the effort and sacrifice consented by the ancestors.
“No one is better than anyone. Everyone is someone. For this reason, it is necessary that we continue to preserve the values and preserve, with all the difficulties experienced in the past and in the present, the message and the Gospel, expressed in social relationships, even if with a lot of sacrifice and a lot of struggle for work, light and transforming presence of Jesus Christ”, he stressed.
Hence, he warned everyone to assume their responsibilities of “living gratefully”, but with “enthusiasm and great love”, and with the dynamics of preparing Cape Verde better for a future based on the dynamics received before, aiming at the achievement of a better and hopeful future.
