Africa-Press – Cape verde. CV Interilhas will reinforce the maritime connection with Maio with two additional trips per week of the vessel Dona Tututa, in view of the operational limitations of the vessel Kriola in Porto Inglês, caused by the silting of the metal ramp.
In a statement, the shipping company explains that, although the Kriola vessel resumes connections with the Sotavento Line today, it is not authorized to operate safely on the metal ramp at the port of Maio, due to the lack of depth caused by silting, which makes the vessel’s maneuvers impossible.
In response to this technical limitation, the company decided to complement the operation with the vessel Dona Tututa, as it can dock directly at the concrete pier, where the depth allows for safe maneuvering, enabling the transportation of cargo.
Operational reinforcement will be ensured with two additional stops per week on the Praia/Maio/Praia route, exclusively for the transportation of essential cargo and goods, starting on Tuesday, the 15th, and continuing on Sunday, the 20th, with the aim of guaranteeing the continuous supply of the island.
The company also assures that this reinforcement aims to “respond to the needs of Maio residents” and prevent the population from being deprived of essential goods and services.
