Dry mist delays arrival of crucial part for Dona Tututa repair

Africa-Press – Cape verde. CV Interilhas reported today that repairs to the Dona Tututa ship are delayed. This is because the identified failure required the replacement of a crucial part, which was promptly purchased in Portugal, but, due to the occurrence of dry fog, the part was unable to reach the island of São Vicente.

“The fault identified on the Dona Tututa required the replacement of a crucial part, which was promptly purchased in Portugal and sent through a designated carrier. However, we regret to inform you that, due to the occurrence of dry fog throughout the Cape Verde archipelago, the piece was unable to reach the island of São Vicente, as the plane was unable to land at São Pedro Airport”, wrote CV interilhas in a statement.

This setback will result in a delay in the necessary maintenance of the Dona Tututa ship and, consequently, in the resumption of its operations.

The company also informs that the São Nicolau/Sal/Boavista/Santiago trips, scheduled for the 26th and 27th of January, are temporarily suspended due to this contingency and that it will soon provide updates on the replacement of these trips.

It should be noted that this Thursday, passengers on the Santiago/Fogo line traveled on the Interilhas ship, due to rescheduling carried out by the concessionaire CV Interilhas following a “serious breakdown” of the Dona Tututa ship that occurred in São Nicolau.

The company reported, in a statement, that the “Dona Tututa” had a “serious failure” in the steering and maneuvering system, compromising its safe navigation capacity.
