Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Mayor of Mosteiros, Fábio Vieira, was nominated for the African governance award, in the category “Best Mayor Across Africa” (Best Mayor in Africa) edition of 2023. The mayor has already highlighted the “enormous political significance” of this distinction that will be delivered on the 5th of October in Mauritius.
According to the Cape Verdean News Agency, Inforpress, the notification of the nomination for the Best Mayor Across Africa award (best mayor in Africa), arrived through a letter addressed to the mayor of Mosteiros by “The Business Executive Media Group” , the institution responsible for organizing the African governance awards gala.
This is the second edition of the “African governance awards” and the delivery event is scheduled for October 5th in Mauritius and will be preceded by a Pan-African conference lasting two days.
“Enormous political significance”
Fábio Vieira, who is on a mission of service in Portugal, within the framework of decentralized cooperation, not only highlighted the “enormous political significance” of the distinction, but also the fact that it represents a motivation to put his abilities even more at the service of citizens of Monasteries.
“The nomination has enormous political significance and this shows that regardless of the size of the municipality we lead, its tax base, as well as its problems and difficulties, when we work for the common good our work will always be recognized”, said Fábio Vieira in declarations to Inforpress.
