Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Movement for Democracy (MpD, ruling party) MP Emanuel Barbosa presented this Sunday, in Lisbon, his candidature for coordinator of the MpD Political Commission in Portugal (PT), highlighting that it is a proximity project.
The ceremony to present the candidature took place in Cova da Moura, a neighborhood with a strong Cabo Verdean community, and the candidate stressed that MpD activists in Portugal understand the party as a “lever to transform society” and “improve people’s lives, and never an instrument to do business or satisfy petty personal ambitions”.
“It is not by chance we chose Cova da Moura. We chose Cova da Moura to start giving a signal, so right from the start, that this project is close, to be close to the Cabo Verdeans in Portugal and Cabo Verde,” said Emanuel Barbosa, adding that the MpD in Portugal is a party in which the supporters put “at the center of their lives the collective will”.
Emanuel Barbosa pointed out that the MpD marks Monday, the 14th, the anniversary of its foundation, completing “32 years of struggle for democratic Cabo Verde, for freedom and a reference of principles and values, based on humanism, development and social justice”.
