Emigrant predicts arrival of ambulance boat by the end of the year

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Eliseu Teixeira, the Cape Verdean emigrant mentor of the fundraising campaign to send an ambulance boat to Brava Island, told RFI that the perspective is to have the vessel in Cape Verde by the end of the year.

It should be noted that the online “crowdfunding” campaign, to collect funds to buy the vessel, was launched on August 8, after the death of a teenager, transported in a fishing boat from Brava to Fogo.

According to Eliseu Teixeira, the vessel costs 150,000 euros and is equipped with “all the necessary means of life support and will also have a special stretcher prepared for the sea” and capable of absorbing movements and ensuring tranquility and safety for patients.

Exceed 50% of the budget in September

“I believe that in the month of September, we will probably be beyond 50% of the total funding needed. The objective is, by November, to have achieved it. The idea is before the end of the year the vessel arrives in Cape Verde”, she explained, in an interview with RFI.

The campaign is taking place on the online platforms kauverdi.com , djudamli.cv and gofundme.com , under the name Dja Braba Ambulance.

Associations mobilized

On the other hand, associations in France, the United States and Cape Verde will also mobilize to hold cultural fundraising events.

Eliseu Teixeira also guaranteed that he has already contacted the Cape Verdean executive to “speed up the entire process, from the dispatch, the license, to its operation in Cape Verde”.
