Africa-Press – Cape verde. The XI National Paralympic Sports Championship starts today, at 4:00 pm at the National Stadium, in Achada de São Filipe, with parades from the different delegations, in a universe of approximately 100 athletes, with the competitions reserved for Saturday and Sunday.

Also this Friday afternoon, the official opening ceremony of CANADEP’2023, at the National Stadium, according to the schedule, will be marked by a speech by its president, Júlio Fortes, a performance by the batucadeiras, “Standarp Comedy”, performance of the Mon na Roda Group.

The president of the Cape Verdean Adapted Sports Federation, Júlio Fortes, the entity that organizes the National Paralympic Sports Championship (CANADEP’2023) in partnership with the Cape Verde Paralympic Committee, said that practically everything is already in place to hold this event , as almost all caravans are already concentrated in the country’s capital.

CANADEP’2023, as reported by Inforpress, will be held in athletics (100, 200, 400 and 800 meters), throwing and weightlifting, wheelchair racing, and will have a recreational event in sitting volleyball, events divided between the National Stadium and the Vává Duarte sports hall.

Promoting sports exchanges between young athletes with disabilities in our country as a means of inclusion in society and selecting the athletes who will represent Cape Verde in the next international competitions, namely World Championships, are the main objectives of the event.

The event will also be used to hold workshops and training sessions on the issues of inclusion, health and well-being and doping.
