Africa-Press – Cape verde. In June 2023, Cape Verde’s exports totaled PTE 673 thousand, corresponding to an increase of PTE 257 thousand (61.9%) compared to the same month last year, revealed today the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
INE data also reveal that last month, Europe continued to be Cape Verde’s main customer, absorbing 95.0% of Cape Verde’s total exports.
Spain leads the ranking of Cape Verde’s main customers in the European economic zone, absorbing 63.3% of exports in June 2023, having increased by 11.5 pp compared to the same month of 2022.
In second comes Italy with 16.1%), in third Portugal, with 14.9%) and then the United States in fourth with 5.0%. It should be noted that these last two countries recorded decreases compared to the same month of 2022.
Canned foods and preparations dominate exports
In June 2023, the products most exported by Cape Verde were prepared and preserved products, which lead the ranking with 73.7% (increasing 5.4 pp), followed by apparel with 8.6% and footwear with 6 ,1%.
It should be noted that exports of preserves are dominated by Frescomar, in São Vicente, but SUCLA in São Nicolau also exports to the United States of America, where there is great demand from the emigrant community.
