External evacuations: New patient reception center in Lisbon opened today in Campo Pequeno

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The new Reception Center for Evacuated Patients (CADE) for Cape Verdean patients under the contributory regime and who are sent for treatment in Lisbon, will be inaugurated today, in a ceremony to be presided over by the Minister of Family, Inclusion and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire.

The new CADE space will be located in Campo Pequeno and will welcome and accommodate patients transferred from the National Social Security Institute (INPS), that is, from the contributory regime, according to the national news agency.

The main objective of this change is to offer taxpayers a “pleasant and peaceful” space, closer to the center of Lisbon, thus facilitating the movement of users.

Taking into account that Portugal is a country that has an agreement with Cape Verde for the transfer of patients, CADE’s users are mostly transferred patients.

More than PTE 931 million spent on treatments in Portugal in 2022

It should be recalled that just over two months ago, the chairman of the INPS board of directors, Mário Fernandes, said in Praia, that Cape Verde invested PTE 931 thousand with the transfer of more than four thousand patients to specialized treatments in Portugal , in 2022.

In 2020, CVE 780 thousand were invested and a total of 2,873 patients were transferred, while in 2021 CVE 790 thousand were transferred to 3,908 patients for treatment in Portuguese hospitals.

In addition to the contributory regime, Cape Verde also sends patients under the non-contributory regime for medical treatment in Portugal, through the Ministry of Health.

This transfer process is coordinated by the National Center for Social Benefits, which prepares the administrative and logistical processes for the trip, as well as the assumption of costs associated with the service.
