Africa-Press – Cape verde. Television Africa (TVA) announced this Tuesday, the 12th, that the film “Sodade” will be distributed in Portugal, Angola and Mozambique by the Portuguese distributor Cinemundo.
“After its premiere in Cape Verde and the United States of America, ‘Sodade’ will now enter a new phase of recognition by conquering the commercial circuit in Portugal, where it will be shown in cinemas from the 28th of this month”, reports TVA.
But the official premiere is scheduled for the 27th of this month, at the El Corte Inglés cinema in Lisbon (Portugal).
According to the same source, this achievement marks an important step forward for national cinema, making “Sodade” “the first Cape Verdean film to be commercially distributed in cinemas in Portugal and other international territories”.
According to TVA, the film was also selected for the Abuja International Film Festival, where it received two nominations, including Best Soundtrack. “This recognition at international festivals underscores the quality of the production and the importance of the film as a major cultural work.”
Directed and written by Cape Verdean Sarah Grace, who has lived in the United States for over 15 years, the film explores profound themes such as love, betrayal and hate, through the story of characters who experience the challenges and dilemmas of the diaspora.
Shot in the beautiful and striking volcanic landscapes of Fogo Island, “Sodade” stands out for its impressive cinematography and for capturing the essence of Cape Verdean culture and spirit.
