Africa-Press – Cape verde. Speaking to Inforpress, the president of APPRB, José Rui Oliveira, regretted the fact that the tender for the fibering of the 25 vessels, budgeted at 2,500 contos, was concluded and work had not yet started.
For the association leader, it is not acceptable that the same project has already been completed in the neighboring fishing community of Rincão, in the municipalities of Santa Cruz, São Miguel and those on the island of Fogo, while Ribeira da Barca does not yet have a date for completion. start.
According to the same source, the owners of the benefited boats, according to the fisherman, have not gone to sea so that the fibering process can be “successful”, but, at the moment, they are saying that they were “deceived” by the association which he directs and by the Ministry of the Sea.
“We ask the Ministry of the Sea to disburse the funds to the company that won the competition so that it can start the fibering process, because the boats are all stopped, leaving fishermen without income as they are waiting for their vessels to be fiberized”, he urged José Rui de Oliveira.
The project falls within the scope of notice number one, for fibering of artisanal fishing vessels, financed 100 percent (%) by the Ministry of the Sea, through the Autonomous Fisheries Fund.
This aims to provide greater safety, greater practicality, reduce fuel consumption and vessel maintenance time.
