Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Projecto Vitó Association in partnership with the National Montado Association began preparations for the production of ten thousand endemic plants of seven different species to recover degraded areas within the Fogo Natural Park (PNF).

The production of endemic plants, according to a note published on the association’s social media page, is part of the Cape Verde Endemic Plant Conservation Program, called “it is time for the conservation of Cape Verde’s threatened endemic plants” with a national, financed by the Swiss foundation, Audemars Pigue.

The objective is to recover degraded areas within the Fogo Natural Park (PNF), with emphasis on the Montado Nacional area.

Of the ten thousand endemic plants that will be produced by the Projecto Vitó Association, there are species such as Cow’s Tongue, Lantisco, Buttonweed, Losna, Witch’s Soap, Clove and Celery, with the work team carrying out some activities such as collecting seeds, setting up the nursery and preparing the substrate.

It is recalled that last year the Associação Projecto Vitó, in partnership with the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) and the Montado Nacional Community Development Association and within the framework of the Endemic Plants Conservation Program, produced an equal amount of endemic plants which were posted after the rain fell in the degraded areas of the PNF.
