Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Chamber of São Filipe today launched the second edition of the Dr. Henrique Teixeira de Sousa literary-scientific award, as part of the seventh edition of “São Filipe Semana d’Arte”.

The awarding of the Dr. Henrique Teixeira de Sousa and Pedro Monteiro Cardoso literary prizes, both in their second edition, according to the city council of São Filipe, aims to rescue and preserve culture and promote the development of the municipal territory.
Contrary to the Pedro Cardoso prize, which aims to honor works written in Creole, a variant of the island of Fogo, the Dr. Henrique Teixeira de Sousa literary-scientific prize, whose second edition is launched today, is not required to be written in the Creole language, It can be presented in Portuguese, as long as it is original and unpublished, with the winner being entitled to a prize of 200 thousand Cape Verdean escudos.
In the first edition, the prize was awarded to Isaquiel Pina Barbosa Lobo, teacher at Pedro Verona Pires secondary school, with the novel “Tudo por Amor”, which was chosen from three competing works and which met the competition criteria.
In addition to the novel “Tudo pelo amor”, the other two works evaluated by the jury were the novel “Dacabalaio”, by Pablo Honório, and UCCLA II, by John de Deus, and for the second edition the city council is awaiting greater participation.
In addition to the announcement of the second edition of the Dr. Henrique Teixeira de Sousa literary-scientific award, the first day of the 7th edition of “São Filipe Semana d’Arte” will feature a corn festival in the community of Ponta Verde (north) and a cultural recognition gala in which 12 individuals will be recognized in eight categories, namely Bandeiras and reign festivals, music, theater, visual arts, crafts, carnival, dance and gastronomy.
Also on the first day of the 7th edition of “São Filipe Semana d’Arte”, the chamber will present the Dr. Henrique Teixeira de Sousa literary-scientific prize, first edition, to the winner.
The program for the seventh edition of “São Filipe Semana d’Arte”, which runs from today, November 1st, until November 7th, also includes activities such as “Street Art” with paintings on Avenida Amílcar Cabral and at the Cultural Center Armand Montrond, exhibition of crafts, paintings and photographs.
The program also includes a “creative leather arts” workshop, a workshop on banners and flags from the carnival and June cycles, a “stilts” and “living statues” workshop, musical entertainment with a dance group performance, a show with a group Riddle and living statue demonstration with the Djadsal theater group in the neighborhoods of Congresso, Cobom, Lém (city) and Patim (south) and São Jorge (North).
